  Jim and Judy Polen have done a wonderful job at bringing this old bar back too life. They have completely renovated the interior, making this place clean and bright while still retaining that Country Store charm. The exterior has also been spruced up quite a bit also making this place much more appealing to all who visit. They offer good food, cold beer and service with a smile.

  This may have been a charming country store in 2005 (see previous review), but in July 2009 it is a smokey-smelling bar, and in a state (Illinois) that now bans smoking in all restaurants and bars. I took one step inside and quickly saw that this was not all what its name implies. The "Looking for Lincoln" memorial in the square near the Country Store has an interesting and relevant piece about the local women crusading against "demon whiskey" in 1854.
